A Village President and six-member Board of Trustees govern the Village of Monee. A village administrator who supervises three full-time clerks and a number of qualified inspectors handles day-to-day operations. The Board meets the second and fourth Wednesday evenings (7:30 p.m.) of each month at Village Hall, 5130 W. Court St. (708-534-8301), directly east of Fireman’s Park. The Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals also meet here, the third Wednesday of every month, at 7:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public; agendas are posted 48 hours prior to each meeting on the front door of Village Hall.

Village Hall is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed Tuesdays for Will County Court and closed daily 12-12:30 p.m. for lunch.

The Monee Police Department operates out of a recently renovated complex on Main Street, one block east of the post office. In addition to the chief, it employs nine full-time and four or five part-time officers, including a K-9 unit. The Village has an Emergency 911 System in place for police, fire, medical and other emergencies; the non-emergency phone number for the police department is 708-534-8321.

For protection is provided by Monee Volunteer Fire Department. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMS) staff the facility at 5500 W. Main Street daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., but help is always just a phone call away, 24 hours a day, by dialing 9-1-1. A second station, opened in January 2002, is located on Harlem Avenue, about one-quarter mile south of Monee-Manhattan Road. The two stations are staffed by some on-duty paid paramedics and a solid staff of well-trained professional volunteers.

The Village of Monee is situated in Will County and is part of Monee Township. The township offices are located at 26121 S. Egyptian Trail; phone 708-534-6020. Voter registration, notary public, and many other services are available through the Monee Township offices; the Tax Assessor’s office is also located here (phone 708-534-6023).
